Our Story
Bimi Express Market isn’t just a sushi shop, it’s a story rooted in love, memory, and purpose.
Founder Meghan Huang opened Bimi in Victoria to honour a moment that changed her life. In 2011, she traveled to Japan with her father. One evening in Yokohama, they dined in traditional kimonos, sharing exquisitely prepared Japanese dishes. It was more than a meal. It was a deeply meaningful experience of connection, culture, and care.
What makes this memory even more significant is that it was the last trip Meghan would ever take with her father, due to his declining health. The memory of that evening stayed in her heart, becoming the inspiration behind Bimi.
With no formal culinary training, Meghan set out to learn the art of sushi so she could bring that same experience to others in VIctoria—fresh, flavourful, and affordable Japanese cuisine and sushi made with care, intention, and a story behind it.
